Lamy vista safari

The Vista is built to be used and abused. The pen takes on the personality of the ink inside, so it's a great pen to use with colorful inks.

The pen takes the standard Lamy cartridge or an ink converter, but the red on the Lamy Z24 converter would ruin the look of the pen. I recommend the Z26 version which uses black plastic instead of red. Goulet Pens has a great writeup about the usage of converters with the Vista. I'm a fountain pen novice, so I appreciate the ability to see how the pen works, and I'm surprised that the Vista isn't mentioned more often in the "best pens for beginners" lists floating around the internet.

The Vista's body does show fingerprints, which is to be expected from clear plastic. It may not be the best choice for the OCD fountain pen fans out there, but it shouldn't be a problem for most. I've also noticed several scratches and scuffs, which are easily visible to the naked eye. The Lamy barrel logo is shiny and metallic, although I was disappointed by how easily the logo cracked and scratched.

First of all, any Lamy fountain pen that uses a T10 cartridge, can use a converter. There are two current models of Lamy converters: the Z27 and the Z Here is what you need to know about each:. Are you wondering what is going on with all these model numbers? And the Z57 is a nib, so sorry about the trick! Want easy answers without the video watching or research? ABS Plastic Body. Anodized Aluminum Body. The metal is strengthened through a process called anodization, which improves the natural protective layer of hard aluminum oxide. Chiseled Grip. The recessed grooves guide your thumb, index finger, and middle finger into a tripod position.

The fountain pen has the most obvious indentations compared to the rollerball, ballpoint, and mechanical pencil. This is because the fountain pen nib needs to be at a specific angle as you write. Tip orientation matters less for pencils and other pens, allowing you to rotate the tip as you please.

Cap with Shiny Clip. The large, wide clip is sturdy and attaches securely to pockets and notebooks. The rollerball and fountain pens have caps to prevent them from drying out.

The ballpoint and mechanical pencil use a retraction mechanism, but they still include the iconic clip. See the table below for all fountain pen body colors. Rollerballs might not seem as exciting, but they require less maintenance and are easier to use. It dries quickly, writes smoothly, and is easy to refill.

The rollerball comes in many of the same colors as the fountain pen. Place the refill inside the grip of the pen. Twist the grip back on the pen barrel. This convenient pen lets you deploy the tip at the click of a button. The ballpoint ink dries quickly and writes well on surfaces that a liquid ink may struggle with. See the table below for all ballpoint pen body colors. Remove the nose cone from the barrel. Place the refill inside the barrel of the pen. Make sure the refill is firmly seated in the pen before screwing on the nose cone.

The LAMY Safari mechanical pencil is an efficient and comfortable pencil that is great for art studios, offices, and classrooms. The included pencil lead is smooth and lays down dark lines.
