Sony lists free games for playstation plus subscribers for february
PlayStation Plus subscribers can get their hands on three free games in the month of February. As Sony pushes more free exclusives for its newly launched PlayStation 5 consoles, Control: Ultimate Edition and Destruction AllStars will be available with next-gen upgrades.
Sony announced the free games lineup on its PlayStation blog. The game manages to strike a fine balance between its action-heavy gameplay and paranormal storyline, offering gamers memorable moments of pairing guns and telekinetic superpowers to take on swarming baddies.
The next-gen version of Control: Ultimate Edition promises ray-tracing on 30fps graphics mode as well as a 60fps performance mode. This month's only PS4-exclusive title, Concrete Genie is a visually stunning action-adventure single player title. It revolves around a young boy named Ash who loves to doodle in his notebook. When a group of bullies steal the book and scatter its ripped pages across the fictional city of Denska, Ash embarks on an adventure of finding the pages.
Usually, the free PS Plus games for any given month consist of one PlayStation 5 game and two PS4 games, but there are some exceptions to that rule. Sony's PS Plus subscription service had an impressive year in , with Sony giving away truly high-quality games ranging from critically-acclaimed third-party titles to some of its own first-party blockbuster exclusives.
There were a number of brand new games released through PS Plus in as well, with most of those being PlayStation 5 titles. There are rumors that PS Plus could be merged with a new kind of subscription service that will serve as a competitor to Xbox Game Pass. Whether or not that actually happens remains to be seen, but in the meantime, PS Plus subscribers can continue to look forward to new free games every month. Subscribers will be given a free boost to their cloud storage space that comes with the service.
Cloud storage is a great way to save games, as well as character profiles and other data, which can then be shared with other platforms later. Its since been clarified that, like usual, so long as players have downloaded a game prior to March 8 and made it a part of their library, it will remain in their library as long as one is a PlayStation Plus subscriber. With this being the case, there's no need to maintain an installation of every PS3 game forevermore. Announcements of a new month of games are a circle-the-calendar reminder for most dedicated video gamers, and PlayStation makes it easy to claim everything quickly, without clearing off space for a full download.
And with large third-party publishers willing to lend their biggest franchises to the cause, it shows that Sony does a better job, or at least makes a stronger effort, at selling its partners on participating in this program.
Destruction AllStars is one of those multiplayer console exclusives that needs a big audience to thrive, and publisher Sony launched it on PS Plus to give the game a good chance to gather the crowd. Players had to wait until the penultimate week of December to pay to upgrade it to the PS5 version if they wanted, however. So there were tons of subscribers getting their first crack at the bikers-vs. August was the weakest month, by far. This is basically four games, as the Overcooked!
Hitman 2 speaks for itself.
